The Main Line/Ardmore Book Club welcomes all reading enthusiasts! We are a diverse group of adults that enjoy reading and escaping into a great book. We meet at a local Borders once, maybe twice a month (depending on the size of the waiting list) to openly discuss our opinions about the book. We pride ourselves as being diverse on what we read as well solely because this book club reads all types of genres. The books are suggestions from all the members and from time to time, members will su …

So we're starting a book club that takes full advantage of it! We will discuss books in bars that reflect their themes, historical contexts, and cultural heritages. Think Drown at La Marina in Washington Heights. Or The Tiger's Wife at KGB Bar in the East Village. The Museum of Innocence at ilili in the Flatiron District. Or even Blood Meridian at Honk …

Meet with other book lovers once a month to discuss a chosen piece of literature (fiction, nonfiction, biography, contemporary, classic novels- depends on what we all vote on!) over drinks or a bite to eat. This is a great chance to meet other local people who share your love for books. Books will be chosen by the group, so feel free to recommend anything you are interested in reading.
Meet kindred book lovers in the Bergen/Rockland County area. While we occasionally read modern classics (Lolita, Catch-22), we read mostly classic works written before 1950 (check our calendar to sample our book selection). We emphasize novels and plays important within the history of literature or have some historical interest. We have friendly, topical discussions about what we enjoyed, didn't enjoy, and found interesting in our reading while making some literate friends in the process. GROUP …
Each month, we will read and discuss and/or write about a great classic written by various American or European authors. Some of these books we may have read as children or teens, others may be new to us, but all have had a significant impact on readers around the globe and are worth a read, or even a second read. We will meet at a coffee/tea shop or a wine bar each month to discuss the book of the month and share anything we have written about the book, if designated as an optional assignment.
After three years of reading Hemingway and his peers, the Hemingway Book Club is changing. Starting in 2013, the group will choose books from the Modern Library's list of top 100 20th Century English language novels. Please join us as we discover and reread some of the best works of the modern age.

Great Books promotes reading, thinking, and the exchange of ideas through the “shared inquiry” method. SHARED INQUIRY Great Books uses a method called "shared inquiry", which is a discussion process that enables participants who have carefully read the same work to help each other explore and understand the work. A leader provides questions that challenge the participants to think for themselves. The conversation allows participants to share their perspectives and respond to the interpretation …
This is monthly book club for people interested in reading and discussing both new fiction as well as the classics. We have also read some non-fiction. Meetings take place on Suncays.
We will read contemporary/classic fiction and non- fiction about once a month. The monthly books are selected after the last meeting on an online poll. Book suggestions for the poll are allotted to those have attended prior meetings. We meet the last Wednesday of each month.
Tired of groups that are either for classics like War and Peace, or else beach books with pink cupcakes on the cover? This meetup is for readers whose tastes fall in the middle. If you love literary, fast-paced fiction and nonfiction where plot isn't sacrificed to good writing - "smart page-turners" - then give us a try. How else is this group different? While I enjoy chatting as much as anyone, our book discussions *will* actually focus on the book. If you didn't have a chance to read it, no pr …

We will provide an inviting, casual, and relaxed atmosphere for people who want to discuss the concepts and themes stimulated by their reading. Book club members are encouraged to provide ideas for selections of future monthly readings, and may range from classic literature to contemporary novels, as well as works of nonfiction.
They just don't write em' like they used to! We'll have a casual chat about a new classic each time. We can meet whenever and wherever. Not all book clubs have to gather at a coffee shop :-) Some titles already on the list include Anna Karenina, Dracula and Catcher in the Rye. I want the rest of the group to pick some titles, as well. I'm going for a very laid-back kind of gathering. So, let's all put on our smarty pants and share a few laughs and conversation!
This group offers the chance to meet other literary Anglophiles and discuss the best writing from across the pond. We'll start with some mid-20th century classics by Kingsley Amis and Graham Greene, but I'm open to Brit lit of any era and genre. It should be a bloody good time. Meets at 3 p.m. on the third Sunday of the month, at Word Bookstore in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. All book picks are 10% off during the month before the meeting. For updates and discussions, please join our Facebook group.
There are no upcoming Meetups.
Share your writing: whether it's a novel, a piece of literary fiction, a political essay, a screenplay or just a pitch for an article or book, you're welcome to join us and discuss your work over a free beer or glass of wine. Free "aperitivo" style snacks will also be available. Please submit an excerpt of your writing at least 24 hours before the scheduled meetup.

As I approach 30, it's becoming apparent that I will probably never climb Mount Everest. Still, I feel pretty confident that with some like-minded folks and moral support, I (we!) can tackle the literary Everest, War and Peace. I'm hoping to find 5-10 people out there who are interested in conquering this tome with me, a little at a time. You don't need to have majored in Lit, but you might want to have some affinity for Russian classics, or this might not be the group for you. Once we've finish …
